Negative Model Production

Foot orthotics are widely used to treat a wide range of foot and lower limb problems. Foot orthotics  can be custom made or premade. The premade ones are mass produced in a few sizes of an average foot shape. The custom made one are made precisely to the dimensions of the foot. To get these precise dimensions what is called negative model production is used to capture a model of the foot. The orthotics is made on this model of the foot. The model can be made with plaster bandage, foam boxes or laser or optical scanners. The model is then adjusted before the orthotic is produced.
