Amazon Kindle V Apple iPad

Opinions differ, but I do not believe that the release of the Apple iPad – unveiled yesterday and due to start shipping at the end of March 2010 – will be the and of the amazon kindle e-book reader. The two devices are really very different and actually serve different functions. The iPad’s display is great for example, but it is power hungry which means that it can only last for ten hours between charges – compared to the Kindle’s weeks of wireless free reading. In reality, there is probably a place for both devices – although Amazon may need to consider reducing the price of the Kindle DX to put some daylight between it and the entry level iPad.
